Checker Sedan Employee Saves Girl’s Life and Hailed as “Hero”

Detroit, July, 2006 — Most of us have enjoyed a typical summer, filled with predictable warm weather activities. For William Davis, a customer service representative with Checker Sedan, summer has been far from standard. One evening in late July, Davis found himself in a position to perform the ultimate deed for a fellow human being.

Shortly after returning home from work, a young girl approached Davis as he was taking out the trash. The girl was bleeding badly after being attacked minutes earlier. Her neck was cut badly and she was in danger of bleeding to death. Davis immediately took action, finding a cloth nearby that he firmly held to her neck to stop the bleeding. He called 9-1-1 for help and stayed with the girl, keeping her focused on staying alive until the paramedics arrived to take her to the hospital.

Thanks to Davis, the young girl is now safe after undergoing several hours of major surgery. Davis does not believe he deserves credit for saving the girl’s life, and says he did what he believes everyone should do if put in that situation.

In recognition of going above and beyond the call of duty, the WNBA Detroit Shock and American Red Cross - Southeastern Michigan Chapter honored Davis with the “My Personal Heroes” Award. During halftime of the August 13th game, Davis received his award mid-court at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

“Above all else, I want her to be happy,” said Davis. “I want to be a positive role model to my son and brothers, and let people know it’s okay to do the right thing.”

The utmost admiration and deepest respect of Soave Enterprises go to William Davis for his quick and efficient actions that saved a life.
