Transportation
The Soave Enterprises Transportation Group consists of three operations: Commuter Transportation Co.; Checker Sedan Co.; and Checker Cab Co.
Commuter Transportation Co. which was acquired by Soave Enterprises in 1996, operates charter and transit buses out of its facility in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Its primary customers are tour operators and similar clientele that charter its buses for educational trips, family reunions, and special and/or corporate events. In addition, Commuter provides transportation management and contract shuttle services on either a day-to-day or special event basis for universities, municipalities, corporations and community groups.
Checker Sedan was established by Soave Enterprises in 2000 in an effort to broaden services and enter the growing luxury sedan market segment. Since that time, Checker Sedan has become the fastest growing luxury sedan service in Southeast Michigan. In February, 2006, Checker Sedan was awarded the right to be the exclusive provider of luxury sedan service at Detroit Metropolitan Airport effective July 1, 2006. In order to service the airport, Checker Sedan purchased one hundred new Cadillacs, Chryslers and Lincolns. Checker Sedan also offers larger vehicles and wheel-chair accessible vehicles to meet the varied needs of its clientele.
Checker Cab Co. which was acquired by Soave Enterprises in 1999, is the oldest and largest taxicab company in the State of Michigan. It is also the State's only fully computer dispatched cab company. Checker Cab primarily services the City of Detroit and its close-in suburbs, however, our cabs have been hired to transport passengers to as far away as Cleveland and Chicago. The rebirth of downtown Detroit, including the building of the two new stadiums, the revitalization of the Renaissance Center under the ownership of General Motors Corporation and the success of such events as Super Bowl XL have been significant contributors to the success of Checker Cab Co.
